Throughout the year, our hair goes through a lot of damage due to exposure to the sun, pollution, chlorine in swimming pools, harsh shampoos, conditioners, hair serums, and treatment with equipment such as hair dryers & hair straighteners that expose the hair to temperatures that exceed that of boiling water!

Due to all these elements, as well as the side-effects of our lifestyle, i.e., inadequate sleep, poor diet, & consumption of fast foods, our hair becomes dull, dry, & frizzy. It tends to develop split ends, frizzyness, dryness, and loses its shine.

Instead of using store-bought hair masks which are often very expensive and contain plenty of chemicals that can be harmful to the health of your hair, we have put together a compilation of 2-ingredient hair masks that you can make yourself with 100% natural and easy-to-procure ingredients.

Here are a few DIY 2-ingredient hair masks that you can easily prepare at home.

1) Egg & Coconut Oil Hair Mask
Eggs are one of the best ingredients for hair. They are very rich in protein, fats, and essential vitamins. Egg yolk is a very effective moisturizer for dry hair. On the other hand, egg white helps get rid of excessive oiliness from hair and cleanses your scalp by getting rid of harmful bacterial. Coconut oil is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins, which nourish the scalp, promote hair growth, and remove the buildup of excess sebum in hair follicles.

In case of dry & frizzy hair, beat one egg and add 1 tsp. of coconut oil. Mix together thoroughly and apply on the scalp as well as the length of your hair. Pay special attention to the tips. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave on for 20 minutes. Wash off with a gentle shampoo.
2) Ripe Banana & Olive Oil Hair Mask
Bananas are wonderful for the hair and scalp. They control dandruff, moisturize the scalp, and improve shine. Bananas are rich sources of natural oils, potassium, vitamins, silica, and carbohydrates, due to which they protect the natural elasticity of the hair and prevent breakage & split ends. Olive oil is a very effective hair moisturizer, due to which it tames frizzy hair very effectively.

In a bowl, mash 2 ripe bananas into a smooth pulp (more for longer hair). Add 1 tsp. of olive oil and mix it well. Apply this mixture to the length of the hair with special focus on the tips. Cover your hair with a shower cap. Wash off after 15 minutes with a mild shampoo.

3) Honey & Yogurt Hair Mask
All you require for this mask are 2 ingredients from your kitchen! Yogurt contains natural fat and enzymes that deep cleanse as well as moisturize hair. It also gets rid of dandruff effectively and keeps it at bay. Honey is a wonderful natural moisturizer that provides deep conditioning to hair and locks in moisture. Use this mask once a week for best results.

Mix both ingredients in equal quantities depending upon the length of your hair. Apply on the scalp as well as on the length of the hair right upto the tips. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water and mild shampoo.

4) Coconut Milk & Honey Hair Mask
Coconut milk contains high amounts of lauric acid, protein, and vitamins B1, B3, B5, B6, C, and E. It reduces hair loss, gets rid of dandruff, and provides relief to dryness & frizziness of hair. Combined with the moisturizing properties of honey, this mask works wonders on seriously damaged/coarse hair and eliminates frizziness. This mask is also a natural hair straightening hair mask, however, since it contains only natural ingredients, results may vary from person to person. Use this hair mask once a week for best results.

In a bowl, mix 1 small bowl of coconut milk with 2 tbsp. of honey. Apply this mixture to your hair from root to tip. Wear a shower cap. Wash off after 2 hours with a mild shampoo.

5) Aloe Vera & Carrier Oil Hair Mask
Aloe Vera gel has high water content, due to which it is a very effective hair & scalp conditioner. In addition, Aloe Vera gel contains proteolytic enzymes that repair & heal the damaged cells of the scalp. When combined with any carrier oil, such as olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, etc. you can prepare a wonderful hair mask form this wonderful and easy-to-procure beauty ingredient.

Mix together 3 tbsp. of aloe vera gel and 1.5 tbsp. of any of the above-mentioned carrier oils. Blend these 2 ingredients together till they form a smooth opaque paste. Massage this mixture on the scalp to increase circulation. Also apply to the length of the hair and the ends. Put on a shower cap and leave it on for one hour. Wash off with a mild & preferably natural shampoo. You can use this mask as frequently as you want.

6) Ghee & Honey Hair Mask
Desi ghee has numerous health benefits. In addition, it nourishes & moisturizes our skin & hair as it is a source of a variety of minerals & vitamins. It is also rich in various healthy fats due to which it provides intense hydration to the hair. Honey is a wonderful natural moisturizer that deeply hydrates, moisturizers and restores life & shine in dull & dry hair.

Mix together a 2 tbsp. of ghee and half a tbsp. of honey. Apply this mixture on the hair and leave on for 1 hour. Wash off with warm water and mild shampoo. This mask can be used as frequently as needed.
