2019 - Our Journey & Milestones
Posted by TEAM BARVA
Hello everyone! A very very Happy New Year!
2019 has indeed been a very eventful and profitable year for Barva Skin Therapie, thanks to the constant love & appreciation from our distributors, and the various platforms through which we have had the opportunity to reach you :)
In this newsletter, we would like to share with you the story of our journey during this joyful year, and how we have grown not only as a brand, but also had the privilege of meeting new people, serving the community, and contributing to environmental conservation.
To map our 2019 journey, it is important to mention some of the key milestones that we have achieved, some of which have been listed below:
What sets us apart from other brands that offer organic beauty products
- All our key ingredients are organic. What's more, we select the active ingredients in our products based on the therapeutic benefits that each one promises to offer.
- All our products are free from harmful substances, which include parabens, silicones, formaldehyde, mineral oil, phthalates, and a host of other harmful ingredients.
- Since we have our own organic farm in our beautiful village Vita, which is in the Sangli district of Maharashtra, we are well aware of organic farming practices and the importance of organic farming to ensure the health of people as well as for environmental conservation.
Almond Pomegranate Body Oil - A New Addition to our Product Family in 2019
- This massage oil is a unique blend of highly nutritious ingredients, which leave you with the ultimate relaxation & rejuvenation, as well as soften and nourish your skin.
- It contains Almond oil, a natural anti-oxidant with skin-lightening properties, as well as Pomegranate and Grapeseed, which dislodge dirt & grime and rejuvenate the skin from within.
- All the ingredients used in this product are organic, and this is the choicest combination that delivers multiple benefits in terms of therapy as well as beauty.
Our Milestones in 2019
- Business generated from exhibitions around Maharashtra
Since our inception in 2006, we have enjoyed participating in various exhibitions across Maharashtra. Not only has our business flourished due to our participation in exhibitions, but we have also developed very deep and meaningful connections with customers, who have become more than just customers to us over the past decade. In our journey of understanding their unique skin & hair care needs, our relationship has evolved over the years in such a manner that they come looking for us at exhibitions.
A very noteworthy exhibition that takes place every year, which has been a major contributor for our growth, is the one organized by the Grahak Panchayat Peth. This institution organizes exhibitions in various cities, which include Pune, Mumbai, Nasik, and other parts of Maharashtra. The exhibitions by Grahak Panchayat Peth are organized mostly immediately after Ganesh Visarjan for a duration of 1 month. Our customers from these exhibitions are not only excited to meet us and talk to us, but they also bring dabbas filled with homemade goodies for us!
Thanks to the love and loyalty of our customers, in 2019, we generated a substantial revenue on all the 30 days we spent at the Grahak Panchayat Peth exhibitions, and we were absolutely overwhelmed with all the response to our products and the love that we received from new as well as old customers who have been buying from us for almost a decade! Thus, each of these exhibitions fills us with immense gratitude and reinstates the love we put into the curation of our products :)
- Growth in the number of distributors
Apart from our participation in exhibitions, our online listings (Amazon & QTrove), and our website, we offer products via distributors. These are some shops and beauty parlors who have expressed interest in stocking & retailing our products, as well as some stay-at-home mothers who wish to earn some extra income while working from home. In 2019, our distributor count, including stores and individuals, reached close to 60. We witnessed an increase of around 15 distributors from 2018.
Growth in sales via the website
By around August 2019, we decided that we need to boost our online presence, as we began to acknowledge the power of online marketing via our own website and social media pages. Earlier, we had a very basic website, which we had developed based on our limited understanding about the same. However, in August, we hired the services of a professional consultant in the field to whom we handed over the responsibility of our website as well as social media.
What's more, the growth in our popularity in the digital world has led to an increase in the sales of our products by around 40% within a span of less than 6 months!
Growth in sales via Amazon and QTrove
In addition to our website, in 2019, we have also listed our products on Amazon and QTrove. We generate substantial monthly revenue through these platforms, which is experiencing a steady increase owing to the increasing popularity of these platforms.
With exponential growth in our business via eCommerce in 2019, we came to realize the carbon footprint resulting from eCommerce activities, which includes the usage of various packaging material (cartons, tapes, stapler pins, printing of labels, etc.) as well as the transportation of these goods from our warehouse to that of the courier service before it reaches our customers, and the pollution resulting from the same. We realized that since we, as an eCommerce business, play our part in increasing the carbon footprint of all the resources mentioned above, it is important for us to do our part in trying to reduce the same. With this objective in mind, we started levying a shipping fee on orders below Rs. 500 to encourage our customers to club the products on their wishlist into one order as far as possible, which results in lowering the carbon footprint resulting from eCommerce activities. Flood relief in Sangli district in August 2019
The Sangli and Kolhapur districts of Maharashtra were plagued with the worst floods due to accessive rainfall during the rainy season of 2019, particularly during August-September. To provide relief to flood victims, especially those who lost their homes and personal belongings, Barva Skin Therapie, along with Nature Care, offered relief material in the form of 2,200 kits that contained basic groceries and other essential items worth Rs. 6 lakhs. The entire team of Barva Skin Therapie, as well as our families and friends, contributed to this amount, as well as the manual work involved for the relief operation. We purchased all the necessary material, packaged it appropriately, and arranged for transportation for it to be delivered to the relief site. The packages provided by us to flood victims and their families included the following material:
- Besan
- Rawa/Sooji
- Toor dal
- Wheat flour
- Rice
- Sugar
- Tea
- Cooking oil
- Milk powder
- Match boxes
- Candles
- Toothpaste
- Bathing soaps
- Washing soaps
- Dettol
- Mediclore
- Towels
- Bedsheets
- Biscuit packets
- Floor cleaner
- Mask
- Sanitary Napkins
- Broom
In addition to the above-mentioned kits, we also offered medicines to those who needed them. For the animals affected as a result of the floods, we provided 2 truckloads of animal and bird feed.
On an ongoing basis, we contribute regularly towards the education of the girl child as well as provide regular funding to Ehsaas, an NGO and residential organization for physically challenged children.
We sincerely thank our customers for being an integral part of this eventful journey in 2019. With the continued love, support, and feedback from you, we will continue to strive to provide you the best beauty products.
Much love,
The BARVA Team
