How to Choose the Right Lipstick for Your Skin Tone?

With so many shades of lipsticks in the market, it can be a daunting task for some to choose the correct shade for their skin color. In this article, we will tell you about the three broad categories of skin colors, and which lipstick shades are best suited to them.
Three broad categories of skin color:
The color of the skin can be broadly classified into three categories – fair, medium, and dark. It is recommended for you to choose your lipstick based on the color of your skin, as well as the colors of outfits that you generally wear. Any mismatch can end up making you look either too dressed up or too dramatic. In some cases, when people with dark skin use very light or neutral lipstick shades, the shades don't seem to show at all or impart a very ashy look to the lips.

Fair Skin

This is because most shades that are very bright or very dark tend to look very dramatic and jazzy on fair skin. Most colors don't look jazzy or gaudy, hence, if your color is medium, you need not hesitate to choose any shade of lipstick, apart from neutrals such as very light pink or brown and very very bright orange, red, and pink.

Dark Skin
Gone are the days when people looked down upon dark skin. Now, dark skin is considered among the most appealing and attractive skin colors around the world. But as is the case with any skin color, the shade of lipstick that you wear can make or break your look. Hence, it is very important to choose the correct lipstick.
In case of dark skin, most medium to dark shades of pinks, reds, and even browns suit dark skins well. The key is not to go overboard with very bright and light colors, especially those with orange or blue undertones. However, those with warm undertones, such as copper, chocolate, terra cotta, etc. look really flattering on dark skin.
